Franchise Brokers Use Immigration to Grow Franchise Industry

There are many different types of immigration visas. One category is investor visas. Another category is business visas. This means that a person looking to immigrate to the US can start a business and obtain a visa by doing so. Obviously there is a lot that goes into the process, but this is the general idea of these visa options.

In 2009, the FBA started a lead-testing campaign where we went out and tested all different types of lead programs. We had different franchise brokers work the leads and report back on the findings. My team and I even worked leads to test the quality of the different options. We tried TV, radio, newspaper, different types of internet leads, trade shows, military leads, seminars, affiliate marketing, golf sponsorships, real estate investor programs, business broker programs, and more. One of the lead programs, the golf sponsorship, allowed us to stumble upon immigration as a viable option for high quality leads.

Since that time we have been working with our brokers to perfect an immigration program. The leads have been incredible. They follow the process. They are engaged and they get to the closing table quickly.

Unfortunately, other problems have occurred as we have experienced this channel. The first is that franchisors are nervous to allow immigrants to run their franchise. Many have had bad experiences where the immigrant didn’t succeed and left the country. Others have had serious challenges around the cultural differences, language barriers, and marketing differences. Many have little business experience and don’t qualify for the franchise they want.

We saw this occur from 2009 to 2012, and decided to do something about it. It took a long time, with a lot of legal counsel, to design the program offering but we did it. We developed a franchise management product line to accommodate these investors’ transition into business ownership. This program allows the investor to buy the franchise, get the visa, have an experienced management company run the franchise for them, and get a return along the way. It solves the problem of the franchisor not wanting to issue licenses. It solves the problem of the failure rate among immigrant investors of the business and of the visa. Finally, it shows that we are always making sure we help our members and their clients in the very best way we can.
