FBA Franchise Broker, Rich Greer, and His Accomplishments Over the Last 12 Years

Today, we’re bringing you a special, feel-good story that deviates from our usual fare. Rather than focusing on a single deal, we’re celebrating the career of Rich Greer, an esteemed FBA Franchise Broker who has been with us since 2011.

Here’s some exciting news: Rich is embarking on a new investment in his future—retirement! As we approach the end of 2024, our Broker will be wrapping up his career, ready to enjoy the rewards of his hard work.

In this feature, we’ll explore some of Rich’s career highlights, hear his thoughts on the FBA, and see what he envisions for his future. 

While it’s bittersweet to see this chapter with Rich come to a close (we’d gladly write endlessly about his success), we’re genuinely excited for him as he steps into this well-deserved new phase. 

Rich’s Reflections on FBA

In a candid reflection of 12 years with the Franchise Brokers Association, Rich expressed his gratitude for the culture here—culture that he said defined his experience as a Broker. When asked to give a recount of his best moments, the first thing mentioned was Sabrina Wall’s dedication to the association and its nurturing environment—which is what initially drew him to the FBA. 

Sabrina is someone who really cares, and it just exudes from her…whether you’re the franchisor, the Broker, or one of our clients, she cares from the very beginning. It’s one of the reasons why I joined the FBA,” he commented.

Our community is everything to us. One of our core values is to “Build an Interconnected Community,” and Rich has truly taken this mission to heart—being a major contributor to the community and culture we see today.

Did you know this? Over the years, Rich went on to receive all the awards that FBA has to offer—from “Rookie of the Year” to “Broker of the Year.” These are milestones that he will be proud of for many years post retirement. We will also continue to boast about them.

A Major Career Highlight

When we discussed Rich’s major Broker highlights, there was one deal in particular that came to mind. 

The client relationship began in September 2021, when a high-level executive approached our Broker seeking an investment opportunity that could eventually allow him to transition into full-time business ownership.

The process kicked off with discussions on the executive’s background, goals, and a comprehensive overview of franchising. This was Routine. Rich’s commitment to due diligence led him to identify several franchise systems that aligned with his client’s interests, sparking excitement and the decision to move forward with one particularly promising brand.

The deal took a twist when the initial investor, a close family member, withdrew, casting uncertainty over the closing of this franchise. However, Rich’s perseverance shone through when the executive returned with a new partner, equally ambitious and ready to make a significant impact in the Dallas/Ft. Worth market. Together, they secured that franchise.

All in all, this deal lasted years.

Despite the challenges—including periods of reduced communication and increased challenges in the franchise approval processes—Rich never gave up. His ability to navigate through the complexities of the deal, coupled with his patience, ultimately led to the successful acquisition of area development rights for their chosen market. Everyone won in this situation.

Rich is a model Franchise Broker for our association, and we are grateful for the insights he shared that helped shape our training for current and incoming Brokers.

A Look at 2025 and Beyond…

As Rich approaches retirement, he’s looking forward to a chapter of relaxation, exploration, and hobbies long set aside.

He is particularly excited about spending time with his wife, cross-country travels on the Amtrak (we are eager to see photos), and reconnecting with old friends—indulging in cherished hobbies, like chess. Retirement for Rich means redefining what engagement and enjoyment looks like at this juncture of his life.

So to wrap this up (despite us not wanting to say “the end”), here’s his final comment in our interview. 

“This has been the one of the best parts of my life for several reasons. The FBA stepped up lot. I’m so happy. I get to end my career on a high note,” Rich expressed.
