More on the Mentoring Themes
Marketing had a GOOD time planning the themes for mentoring – and to introduce you to them, we have a question…
What’s your mountain?
Imagine trekking up a mountain – a journey that requires preparation, the right tools, and the wisdom to use them effectively. In your franchise business, this mountain represents the challenges you need to identify, practice, and perfect.
So, again, what’s yours?
Our mentoring sessions and their respective hosts are your guides, preparing you for this journey with expertise and insight.
- Friday’s Session “Broker FUNdamentals”: Think of this as equipping you with essential tools for your trek. It lays the foundation, providing you with the knowledge and skills necessary to start your climb confidently.
- Wednesday’s Session “How to Sell These Brands, Season 2”: Here, we show you how to put those tools into practice. It’s about application – taking what you’ve learned and using it to navigate the complex terrain of brand selling effectively.
- Monday’s Advanced Brokering: This is where you master the tool. Advanced Brokering hones your skills, teaching you to tackle the most challenging parts of the mountain with expertise and precision.
Now that you have this context, let’s recap what Wednesday’s session was all about.
What was Discussed?
On Wednesday, January 3rd, FBA proudly launched its first mentoring session of the year, a part of what we’re excitedly calling “How to Sell These Brands, Season 2.” This inaugural session was an opportunity to set the stage for what our Members can expect from mentoring in the coming year.

After an introduction from Wanda, highlighting the various titles of the sessions, the floor was then given to FBA Broker Beau Eckstein, one of Wednesday’s hosts.
He explained how the idea for him to join as host on our mentoring originated from his Franchise Book Club idea and then evolved into a more structured format for brand strategy. His vision is to create a collaborative learning environment where members can deep-dive into specific brands, delivering concise presentations that enhance both their knowledge and presentation skills.
This approach has multiple benefits:
- Improving Presentation Skills: As members present on various brands, they refine their communication and presentation abilities.
- Collective Learning: Through these presentations, the entire community gains in-depth knowledge about different franchises, learning in a format that is both visual and auditory.
- Building a Resource Archive: These sessions will contribute to a valuable archive of detailed brand analyses, providing members with a resource to revisit time and time again.
Beau’s vision is to transform the Wednesday sessions into a platform where learning is interactive, practical, and peer-driven. This not only enhances the individual’s understanding of a brand but also strengthens the collective knowledge of the FBA community.
Why is this approach so impactful for both Brokers and Candidates? There’s a key factor: candidates are often busy and overwhelmed with surplus information.
Here’s how the “How to Sell These Brands, Season 2” sessions come to the rescue:
- Efficient Information Sharing: Imagine being able to provide candidates with a concise, 2-3 minute overview of a franchise, crafted by a peer who has thoroughly researched the brand. This approach is far more engaging and digestible than handing over lengthy documents.
- Personal Touch: These presentations offer a personal and relatable perspective. They go beyond mere facts, providing candidates with insights from someone who has genuinely researched the brand’s specifics.
- Practical Application: For our Brokers, these resources are invaluable. If a candidate expresses interest in a specific franchise, Brokers can immediately share a peer-created presentation, offering a comprehensive yet succinct overview. It’s an efficient and effective way to communicate complex information.
Wanda’s input in this conversation further cemented the value of this approach. She introduced the concept of the new “Broker Community Notes” in our FLS. This section serves as a collaborative space where Brokers can share their research about a brand.
For example, after a Wednesday mentoring session discussing one or two brands, Brokers can go to the listings and add notes about what they’ve learned. These notes can then be shared with the entire association or kept private for personal reference.
The Bigger Picture
This strategy is a transformative tool for the FBA community. It enhances the way Brokers interact with and understand brands, and it changes how candidates receive and perceive this information.
As we continue to roll out these innovative practices in our mentoring sessions, be sure to be there! Every session will bring us closer to mastering the art of effective, GOOD franchising.
